Health & Safety
COVID-19 Policy
Our continued commitment to protecting our nurses, our client facilities, and the patients we serve together.
Excellent Nursing Services, Inc. ("ENS Staffing," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the health and safety of our nursing professionals, the client facilities we serve, and the patients in their care. This COVID-19 Policy outlines the standards, screening procedures, and best practices that all ENS Staffing personnel are required to follow when accepting an assignment.
1. Vaccination & Immunization
ENS strongly encourages all nursing staff to remain current with COVID-19 vaccinations as recommended by the CDC and to maintain other immunizations required for healthcare employment, including influenza, MMR, varicella, and Tdap. Documentation of vaccination status or, where applicable, an approved exemption must be on file with ENS prior to placement.
2. Pre-Shift Screening
Prior to every scheduled shift, ENS personnel are required to:
- Conduct a self-assessment for symptoms consistent with COVID-19, including fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, and gastrointestinal symptoms.
- Refrain from reporting to a client site if any symptoms are present and notify ENS scheduling immediately.
- Complete any facility-specific screening (temperature checks, attestation forms, rapid testing) upon arrival.
3. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
ENS staff must wear all PPE required by the assigned facility and follow standard, contact, droplet, and airborne precautions as clinically appropriate. ENS expects facilities to provide PPE consistent with CDC and OSHA guidance; staff who encounter PPE shortages should report the issue to their ENS scheduler immediately.
4. Exposure & Positive Test Reporting
Any nurse who tests positive for COVID-19, develops symptoms, or has a known close contact with a confirmed case must:
- Notify ENS Staffing as soon as possible.
- Follow current CDC isolation, testing, and return-to-work guidance.
- Provide medical clearance documentation when required prior to returning to the field.
5. Hand Hygiene & Infection Control
All staff are expected to follow strict hand hygiene practices, proper donning and doffing of PPE, safe injection practices, and standard precautions on every assignment. ENS reserves the right to remove personnel from any assignment for failure to follow infection-control protocols.
6. Travel & Community Exposure
Nurses traveling to areas with elevated COVID-19 transmission, or who have attended large gatherings without protective measures, should follow CDC guidance on testing and quarantine before returning to clinical work.
7. Confidentiality of Health Information
Health information collected as part of this policy — including vaccination status, test results, and exposure reports — is treated as confidential and used only for placement, scheduling, and public-health purposes consistent with applicable law.
8. Policy Updates
ENS Staffing will update this policy as public-health guidance, regulatory requirements, or client-facility expectations evolve. The most current version will always be available on this page.
